Arts in Motion Dance Studio Senior Profiles

We’d like to congratulate all of our seniors this year! It was a challenging one and they all stepped up and kept working hard and training and creating. We are very proud of each of them.

Anja Jacobson has been dancing and performing with us for 3 years. She studied Lyrical and Jazz with Miss Hannah and although she came to dance a little later than some, she has grown so much and really progressed in skill and artistry.

She will be going on to study pre-nursing at Michigan State in the Fall.

Jessica Wood has maintained a dedication to Classical Ballet during her 6 years at Arts in Motion. Her senior year she assisted Miss Slavka in the Ballet 3B class. Studying with Miss Slavka and Miss Helena she has become quite confident on pointe and has developed into a beautifully expressive dancer.

Jessica will be attending the University of Michigan in the Fall and will study mathematics.

Juliet Krajcik started dancing at Arts in Motion when she was just 7 years old. She has taken Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, and for many years was a member of the Student Dance Company. She represented Arts in Motion at the Dupree Dance Convention with several of her classmates in 2017. This year she assisted Miss Hannah in Jazz 2 and also helped out with our Little Dancer Camps last Summer and Miss Kayleigh’s classes including Adaptive Discover Dance, Ballet and several others as well. Her depth of emotional connection shines through in her dancing and her persistence and strong work ethic have allowed her to grow into an integral member of our dance family. Juliet will be attending University of Colorado-Boulder and will major in psychology and we wish her the best of luck!

Tara Mielewski has been dancing with us the longest of any student to date: 13 years! She started in Beginning Dance with Miss Amanda and then quickly discovered Jazz. She joined the Student Dance Company in 2013 when she was 11 years old. The following year she added Lyrical with Miss Hannah to her repertoire. She performed in our Neo-Nutcraker performance at Washtenaw Community College in 2015 as a Lead Mouse and was promoted to Rat Queen in 2017. After attending Dupree Dance Convention in 2017 and 2018 she then represented Arts in Motion at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival with four of her classmates in May of 2018.  Tara has an eye for detail, elegant lines and unflagging energy. She has a strong creative spirit that will take her far.

In the Fall she will be attending Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to study chemical engineering.

Brava Dancers!
