Classes for Children
Help your child learn to move his/her body purposefully through space. Creative movement is encouraged through imaginative play and free dance.
(Ages: 1-3 yrs. with a parent/care-giver)
Children will learn basic dance vocabulary through teacher and student generated dance stories. The teacher may read a story to the children or talk about a movement concept that will provide inspiration for that day’s dance. This class is intended as an independent dance class although parents will occasionally be welcomed into the dance space at the end of class to watch the students perform.
(Level 1: 3-4 yrs., Level 2: 4-5 yrs.)

Beginning dancers will take this class that covers the basics of all four fundamental dance styles: Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Tap. Learn what the differences are, and the similarities as well as some of the history behind these four movement practices.
(Ages: 5-6 yrs.)
Adaptive Dance Stories
This class is designed for children with disabilities. They work to build coordination and confidence, all the while exploring the imagination. Dancers will be encouraged to express themselves through movement while building on a range of physical, cognitive and social skills. The teacher may read a story to the children or talk about a movement concept that will provide inspiration for that day’s dance.

Adaptive Discover Dance!
This class is designed for children with disabilities. It works to build coordination and confidence, Dancers will be introduced to elements of Ballet, Contemporary/Modern, Jazz and Tap. Students will be encouraged to express themselves through movement while building on a range of physical, cognitive and social skills. Class is invited to perform in the annual Spring Concert.
(Ages: 8+ yrs.)
In ballet classes we focus on placement, alignment, flexibility and musicality through a blend of traditional ballet techniques and contemporary movement theory. Basic ballet concepts, vocabulary and skills are introduced through standard combinations at the barre and in the center. Each level is designed to be taken for 2 years in a row. As students progress through the levels the exercises will increase in length and difficulty and more emphasis will be placed on retention of choreography and performance quality.

Contemporary Modern Dance
In Modern Dance we use our bodies to express ideas or feelings, much as artists create original pictures. We experiment with the weight of the body and dynamic qualities such as fall and rebound, spiral, and the influences of breath on movement. We explore the concepts of improvisation and composition. Beginning levels will focus on classical modern dance exercises based on the techniques of the original Modern dancers such as Martha Graham, Jose Limon, Doris Humphrey, Merce Cunningham and Erik Hawkins. As students progress through the levels they will be challenged with longer exercises and combinations that will prepare them for learning and performing repertory.

Dancers will be exposed to a combination of lyrical and broadway dance styles. Standard jazz combinations will be taught to a mixture of traditional jazz, broadway and popular music. Vocabulary that is specific to jazz dance includes syncopated rhythm, isolations and large jumps and leaps.

Lyrical combines the techniques of ballet, modern dance and jazz to create dances that express the emotions of a song. In addition to technical warm up exercises dancers will explore improvisation, elements of composition and will learn standard leaps and turns.

This class will expose the student to all of the elements of this Urban dance style including breaking, robotics and pop and lock. Class will focus on improvisational techniques.
(Hip Hop Level 1: 7-9 yrs., Level 2: 9-11 yrs., Level 3: 11+ yrs. Teen & Adult Hip-Hop for beginners also available.)
Students will have weekly voice and dance lessons. They will learn songs from classic Musical Theater shows and will learn elements of ballet and jazz and character development through voice and movement. Students who are ready will be given the opportunity for solos.
(Musical Theater Level 1/Beginners: 7-11 yrs., Level 2/Intermediate: 11-18 yrs.)
Student Dance Company
Students ages 11 and up in level 2 or higher classes who are ready for more performance opportunities are invited to take weekly repertory classes with faculty and other local choreographers to create dance pieces to be presented in community performances.

Beginning ballet with a focus on placement, alignment, flexibility and musicality.
Adult Modern Dance
Beginning Modern Dance class will combine elements of Graham, Cunningham, Hawkins, Limon and Horton technique with stretching and strengthening exercises for a fun and challenging class.
Modern Improvisation (for Seniors)
A dance class for women of all ages to use our bodies to express ideas or feelings, much as artists create original pictures. The class includes modern dance technique with some Yoga influence as well as improvisation in groups with other dancers or solo.
Teen & Adult Hip-Hop
Class is designed for beginning and intermediate dancers. Street dance styles: popping, locking, robotics, breaking included.
Ballroom (Teens and Adults)
Basic Ballroom styles (waltz, fox trot, swing, rhumba, merengue, cha cha, tango) taught in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Couples are taught to communicate through the leading and following and improvise within the fundamental structure of the dances. Group classes or private lessons available.
